As part of the joint cooperation agreement between Kuwait University and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries in the field of comprehensive risk management, a seminar entitled "AI Risk Assessment" was held. It was presented by the Acting Head of the Department of Information Science, Professor Kassem Saleh, at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 18th, at the headquarters of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) in the Ahmadi area.

At the outset, the Director of Risk Management at KNPC, Eng. Khalida Ahmed Bandar, welcomed the attendees and expressed her pleasure at this collaboration with Kuwait University, emphasizing that the rapid development of artificial intelligence necessitates that interested sectors hold this type of seminar.

Professor Kassem Saleh opened the seminar with a brief introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), its current developments, and the challenges it presents. He then reviewed the ethical principles guiding AI risk management and presented the latest frameworks for AI governance and risk management.

In the same vein, Dr. Saleh presented current AI models, their associated risks, and methods for mitigating those risks. He also presented several AI use cases in the oil sector, explaining the patterns that comprise each case. The seminar concluded with a Q&A session and prizes awarded to the winners to encourage interaction and reinforce the information presented. The seminar, which focused on assessing AI risks, was well-attended by employees of oil companies and other interested parties, as well as some faculty and support staff from the Department of Information Science at the College of Life Sciences.

Also present were Mrs. Nouf Al-Fadagh, a member of the Joint Cooperation Committee between Kuwait University and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries, and Head of the Consulting and Training Office at the College of Life Sciences, along with other interested individuals participating online. In closing, Professor Kassem Saleh was honored by Engineer Khalida Ahmed Bandar for his efforts in presenting the seminar.
