Under the patronage and in the presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Rashid Al-Lafi, the "Communication is a Right for All" event was inaugurated for students enrolled in the "Hearing Loss and Sign Language" course. The event took place at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in the college lobby. Also in attendance were the Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, Dr. Tariq Al-Shatti, the Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Sharifa Al-Kandari, and a number of faculty, administrative staff, and students.
The event featured over 20 projects by students in the "Hearing Loss and Sign Language" course. The students presented their vision and strategies for facilitating sign language learning, offering practical ideas and solutions for individuals with hearing loss. They also explored integrating artificial intelligence into some of their projects and developing mobile applications and websites to serve this community.
On this occasion, the supervisor of the course and Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Tariq Al-Shatti, explained that this event is a creative, awareness-raising community event, and he expressed his happiness that the College of Life Sciences was hosting it. He also praised the skills and abilities of the students that they acquired during their years of study and their ability to translate them into practical models and feasible research projects. In conclusion, the participating students were honored.
