The Nutrifiva Club, part of the Food Science and Nutrition Department at the College of Life Sciences, Kuwait University, organized an alumni reunion on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the college auditorium. The event was attended by the club's supervisor, Dr. Mohammed Mirza, a faculty member in the Food Science and Nutrition Department, as well as a large number of students and others interested in the field.
The club president, student Nour Ali, began the meeting by introducing the guests and emphasizing that the reunion aimed to familiarize students with the realities of professional life after graduation and to highlight various career paths in nutrition through real-life experiences shared by graduates of the department.
Four graduates from the 2016 class participated in the event: researcher Sabiqa Al-Nuaimi from the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Ms. Tayba Saleh from Diet Box Company, Ms. Shahd Al-Otaibi, a diabetes nutritionist, and Ms. Moudhi Al-Saif, a doctoral student.
On this occasion, the graduates spoke about their professional beginnings and the challenges they faced when choosing nutrition as their major, especially at a time when the field was not as widely known as it is today. This required them to exert extra effort to demonstrate the importance of the field and clarify its role in the health and community sectors. They also reviewed their transition from academic studies to the job market, the skills they needed to develop outside the classroom, the importance of practical training, building professional relationships, and capitalizing on opportunities available both within and outside the university.
The meeting adopted an open dialogue format, featuring an interactive discussion between students and graduates through a question-and-answer session. Students raised inquiries about employment opportunities, postgraduate studies, working in the public and private sectors, as well as freelance work in nutrition and entrepreneurship.
In conclusion, the speakers were honored by the club president, student Nour Ali, in recognition of their efforts and for sharing their experiences with the department's students.
