The Department of Information Science at the College of Life Sciences organized an educational field visit for students enrolled in the Introduction to Information Systems (ISC 101) course to the Information Systems Center (KUCIS) at Kuwait University on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The visit was supervised by Dr. Sheikha Al-Khader and Dr. Zainab Al-Miraj.
This visit was part of the course's practical component, allowing students to see the actual infrastructure of information systems firsthand and learn about the real-world applications of what they had studied in the classroom. During the tour, students observed the stages of construction and equipping of the new data center, viewing servers and network equipment. They also experienced the environmental conditions within the center, including high temperatures, noise levels, and the requirements for reducing air pollution. The visit sparked the students' curiosity and enhanced their understanding of how data centers and information technology applications are designed and operated in a real-world environment.
At the end of the visit, the academic team and students expressed their sincere thanks to Engineer Sundus Ashkanani, Engineer Hussein Al-Lami, Engineer Hussein Haider, Engineer Nada Al-Shammari, and Engineer Dana Al-Raghib for their valuable efforts in organizing and receiving the students, and for their keenness to deliver practical knowledge in a clear and simplified manner, as this field experience will have a lasting positive impact in supporting the students’ academic and professional path.
