Through its academic programs, the Department of Information Sciences aims to provide high-quality education in the field of computer information sciences and the field of data science & artificial intelligence by providing a dynamic academic environment that enhances creativity and innovation in a data-driven world, all through the combination of experienced and competent teaching staff, distinctive, modern, and advanced facilities and laboratories, and clear and defined educational curricula.

In addition, the department seeks to provide the following:

  • Fundamental knowledge of information technology, data science & artificial intelligence through a distinguished scientific basis.
  • Balancing achieving educational goals, developing scientific research capabilities, and activating community service.
  • Developing students’ technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Qualifying graduates to seamlessly integrate with different work environments and apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their academic careers.
  • Awareness of work environment ethics and societal responsibilities.

Nature of specialization

The academic programs: Information Science and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, are designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in advanced technology and innovation. Graduates from these programs are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in diverse fields within the public and private sectors.

The Information Science program focuses on creating, developing, and applying computer information systems to transform factual data into knowledge using latest concepts in the field of information and communications technology to develop applications that support the decision-making process and serve public and private institutions.

The Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program prepares the students to excel in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence by providing them with fundamental knowledge, practical techniques, and the skills needed to address local and global challenges in an increasingly data-centric world.

The study plan for both programs is based on practical and theoretical materials in many topics, most notably:

Information Science

  • Programming languages and developing computer technologies and software.
  • Development and management of information systems.
  • Design and manage databases.
  • Information networks in addition to network and information security.
  • Design and develop Internet and multimedia websites.
  • External field training, in addition to the final graduation project.

Data Science & Artificial Intelligence

  • Understanding complex data sets and developing advanced analytical skills.
  • Programming and computational techniques for data science and artificial intelligence.
  • Development of machine learning models and building high-quality data-intensive prediction systems.
