The ClickIT Club of the Department of Information Sciences at the College of Life Sciences held the "Hackathon Programming Championship" in which students from different colleges at Kuwait University participated. The hackathon competition aims to test the participants' skills in solving programming problems in an atmosphere filled with competition among them; as the contestants were allowed to use the Internet to search, while they were prohibited from using artificial intelligence or copying ready-made solutions.
Dr. Zahraa Maarefi, supervisor of the Click IT Club, stated that such hackathons are a platform for students to learn and collaborate, and for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to solve real challenges, noting that they also highlight the talents present at Kuwait University and encourage students to think outside the boundaries of the curriculum.
It is worth noting that these events are essential to developing the next generation of innovators in the field of technology, as the hackathon demonstrated the club's commitment to promoting a culture of learning, collaboration and innovation among students.
The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges from the Department of Information Sciences, which included Dr. Badr Ali and Dr. Badr Al-Khazi. The competition was won by students Anas Muhammad, Youssef Diaa and Mishari Al-Anzi.
