The Department of Information Sciences at the College of Life Sciences organized an introductory tour for information systems students about database and network applications at the university
As part of Kuwait University's keenness to enhance the applied educational experience for its students, the Department of Information Sciences at the College of Life Sciences, in cooperation with the Information Systems Center at Kuwait University, organized a field introductory tour for students of the "Databases" and "Networks" subjects.
This event was organized by Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences, Dr. Sheikha Al-Khader, in coordination with Engineer Hussein Al-Lami from the Information Systems Center, and with the participation of a number of information systems specialists.
The tour aimed to enhance students' knowledge of the practical applications of the concepts they study in lecture halls, while highlighting the latest technologies that contribute to managing digital systems within an advanced educational environment. The event also focused on motivating students to develop their skills and link what they learn to professional reality, which enhances their readiness for the labor market.
During the tour, the team of specialists provided detailed explanations to the students about building and managing databases, how to create databases used within the university, mechanisms for managing and investing in them to support academic and administrative operations, securing storage devices and highlighting ways to protect storage devices and the necessary periodic maintenance procedures to ensure efficient continuity of work, and finally integrating networks with databases and explaining how to use computer networks to provide fast and secure access to data and link the university's various departments and sections.
In turn, Dr. Sheikha Al-Khader stressed that such tours represent an exceptional opportunity for our students to understand the practical applications of database and network concepts, noting that they are an essential step to enhance their theoretical knowledge and prepare them for the requirements of the renewed labor market. At the end of the tour, Dr. Al-Khader expressed her gratitude and thanks to the Information Systems Center for its support and fruitful cooperation in organizing this event, which directly contributed to enriching the students' experience and enhancing their knowledge in the fields of information systems.
