Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri from the College of Life Sciences wins the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation

Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, a member of the academic staff in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Life Sciences, won the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation 2025 in the category of pioneering development and production projects, in its seventeenth session.

On this occasion, the university family, represented by the Director of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Al-Mailem, extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri on this victory and achievement that has been accomplished. The Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Prof. Ahmed Al-Lafi, representing the members of the academic and administrative staff at the college, extends his congratulations on Dr. Al-Hajri’s well-deserved victory in the award.

In this regard, Dr. Al-Hajri said that this honor reflects the efforts made in developing sustainable agricultural projects, and the commitment to research and innovation in order to enhance food and water security and sustainable development. He also extended his sincere thanks to the organizers of the award and to both Kuwait University and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, the main supporters of his research career.

Dr. Al-Hajri is one of the prominent names in his field, as he presented many scientific researches and applied projects that contributed to the development of the agricultural and environmental sector, and enhancing its sustainability.

It is worth noting that this award was launched by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2007 in the sisterly United Arab Emirates, with the aim of promoting and encouraging agricultural innovation and studies of date palm research and its spread in the world. To be a platform for appreciating and honoring individuals and institutions from all over the world who have made significant contributions in this field, and it is also an annual forum for exchanging experiences and knowledge and a bridge for communication between all peoples.
