
Under the patronage and attendance of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, and the representative of the Regional Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Asad Hafeez, the Healthy Cities Office organized a ceremony to hand over the accreditation certificates to Sabah Al-Salem University City, Al-Oyoun Health City, and Dasma Health City on the occasion of their accreditation as healthy cities, in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Capital, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali, His Excellency the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, His Excellency the Governor of Jahra, Mr. Hamad Jassim Al-Habashi, His Excellency the Governor of Ahmadi, Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Acting Director of Kuwait University, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Saeed, on Monday evening, 11/18/2024, in Al-Dana Hall in Sabah Al-Salem University City, in order to achieve the vision of "Kuwait 2035" in preparing sustainable development and a healthy environment.
On this occasion, the Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, expressed his pride and appreciation, saying: “The College of Life Sciences is proud of its prominent role in supporting Kuwait University’s efforts to achieve Kuwait Vision 2035, which focuses on sustainable development and promoting a healthy environment. The fact that Sabah Al-Salem University City has been accredited as a healthy university city by the World Health Organization is a testament to the university’s commitment to global sustainability standards. The college has contributed significantly, through its scientific research and applied initiatives, to improving the efficiency of using natural resources, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing reliance on renewable energy. The college’s departments play a pivotal role in promoting public health through innovative studies aimed at improving healthy patterns. This achievement reflects our shared vision of providing a healthy and sustainable educational and research environment for our future generations.” The ceremony included a visual presentation of Sabah Al-Salem University City, Dasma Health District, and Al-Oyoun Health District. The organizers of the Healthy Cities Initiative from Kuwait University, and the Dasma and Al-Oyoun Health Districts were also honored, in addition to a tour of the exhibition accompanying the event, which witnessed the participation of the College of Life Sciences with its scientific departments.
