Under the patronage and presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rashid Al-Lafi, and the Administrative Director of the College, Mr. Saleh Al-Musallam, the first round of the college debates for the Fall Semester 2025/2026 was launched at the College of Life Sciences on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The opening public debate carried the title: “The University Will Cancel Student Allowances for Non-High Achievers.” The debate centered around arguments in favor of maintaining the allowance for students (the Proposition Team) and arguments supporting its removal to reduce the academic burden on students (the Opposition Team). Both sides engaged in discussions, posed questions to their opponents, and presented evidence and statistics in a dialectical style.

On this occasion, the President of the Debate Club at the College of Life Sciences, student Sita Abdullah, stated:
"Debates are an opportunity for students who wish to sharpen their social skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking with confidence. The Life Sciences College Debate Club welcomes more students to join."

This event affirms that studying at Kuwait University goes beyond academic achievement, providing space for practical discussion and reflection.

These debates are part of Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting students, encouraging critical thinking, affirming freedom of expression and respect for differing opinions, while offering a platform for presenting arguments, information, and diverse perspectives.
