
Professor Bader Shafaqa Al-Anzi, a faculty member at the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Life Sciences, won the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in its (43) session for the year 2025, on the topic of "Water Efficiency Innovations and Technologies." This achievement came after a competition involving 522 researchers from various Arab countries who applied for the award. Only (10) winners were selected this year, and Prof. Bader Al-Anzi was among them. On this occasion, the Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Prof. Ahmed Rashid Al-Lafi congratulated Professor Bader Al-Enezi on winning the award, emphasizing that the academic staff at the College of Life Sciences are always keen to raise the profile of the university and Kuwait through these scientific contributions and achievements that contribute to scientific research and enhance Kuwait's standing on the Arab academic scene. The college is proud of such achievements, which serve science and support Kuwait's development. Professor Bader Shafaqa Al-Enezi stated that he won the Water, Energy, and Food Sciences Award under the theme "Innovations and Technologies for Water Efficiency," noting that his research included innovations that contributed to the development of modern practices and technologies to improve the management and use of water resources to achieve environmental sustainability. He explained that these innovations include the management of highly saline water discharged from desalination plants, wastewater treatment, and increasing the concentration of dissolved oxygen in water to reduce fish mortality and generate energy. He also explained that these innovations include smart irrigation systems, the use of technology to monitor water networks, and the promotion of sustainable agriculture, which reduces dependence on water and increases the efficiency of its use. It's worth noting that the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers is one of the most prominent scientific awards in the region. It aims to support scientific research, stimulate creativity and innovation, and highlight distinguished Arab researchers in various fields.
