The CLICKIT club, affiliated with the Department of Information Sciences, organized a workshop on artificial intelligence tools for students, presented by student Rana Omar. The session took place at 12:30 PM on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the College of Life Sciences.
The workshop began with student Rana Omar from the Department of Information Sciences welcoming the attendees and providing an introduction to the purpose of AI tools. She emphasized that AI tools are not a replacement for human intelligence but are meant to assist students in their work based on the data provided to the programs. She also showcased various programs that aid students in data analysis and discussed how AI tools can facilitate scientific research. Programs such as Napkin, Claude, and ChatGPT were presented as tools to help students search and access the topics they are looking for. Additionally, she explained how ChatGPT can be used to find scientific answers to questions within a student's field of study.
Rana also demonstrated and gave examples of several tools and applications that assist with smart conversations, creating visual content, organizing ideas and studies, and analyzing documents. She emphasized the importance of adhering to AI ethics, noting that Kuwait University’s policies and regulations govern the use of AI tools in scientific research. She outlined how to use these tools in accordance with the ethical standards of academic research. The policy prohibits presenting AI-generated works as personal creations, using AI to solve tests and assignments, and copying AI-generated content without modification.
The session concluded with an open floor for students to explore and test the programs, followed by a discussion and Q&A session.
In the end, Rana Omar was honored by the faculty members of the department for her efforts in organizing the workshop.
