Bachelor of Science in Information Science

Bachelor's Program

The Information Science program focuses on creating, developing, and applying computer information systems to transform factual data into knowledge using latest concepts in the field of information and communications technology to develop applications that support the decision-making process and serve public and private institutions.

The study plan for the program is based on practical and theoretical materials in many topics, most notably:

Programming languages and developing computer technologies and software.

Development and management of information systems.

Design and manage databases.

Information networks in addition to network and information security.

Design and develop Internet and multimedia websites.

External field training, in addition to the final graduation project.

Program Educational Objectives
- Engage in productive careers with the knowledge of computing to develop, deliver, and manage information systems that support public and private organizations.
- Excel in their work environment by communicating effectively, functioning effectively as a team, and practicing professional ethics with the sense of social responsibility.
- Adapt to the challenges of the changing environment and the new technologies, and to continue professional development, broaden their professional knowledge and/or pursue graduate studies.  

Student Outcomes
- An ability to Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
- An ability to communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- An ability to recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- An ability to function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
- An ability to support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment.
