The Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) was established in 2003 with the aim of developing a competent national workforce in the fields of nutrition, dietetics, and food science. Our faculty with diverse expertise representing the interdisciplinary nature of nutrition, dietetics and food science are committed to enriching students with knowledge and competencies to become experts in health promotion, disease prevention and management, food safety and security and the food industry. Our programs enrich students not only with theoretical knowledge but equally practice-based experience to gain a strong foundation in applied human nutrition, dietetics, food science, and research methodologies for a competent evidence-based practices. It supplies students with the expertise required to support the needs of the community and address food and nutrition complex challenges in the state of Kuwait.
The FSN Department offers two distinct Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees, a BSc in Nutrition, and a BSc in Food Science. We also offer two Master of Science (MSC) degrees: MSc in Nutrition and Food Science and MSc in Food Quality, Safety and Toxicology.
