The Guidance and Counseling Office at the College of Life Sciences held a seminar entitled “Challenges Create Personalities”, presented by Ms. Aisha Al-Ayyaf, Family and Educational Counselor at the Etizan Center for Consulting and Training, and attended by the Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Life Sciences, Dr. Sharifa Al-Kandari, the Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Hanadi Abdul Salam, and the College’s Administrative Director, Saleh Al-Muslim.
The seminar addressed the challenges faced by individuals on both the personal and professional levels, and how to transform these challenges into opportunities to achieve goals.
In turn, Professor Aisha Al-Ayyaf stressed that awareness and adopting a new outlook on things are the key to positive change. She also touched on the “90/10 rule” which indicates that 10% of the events we face are caused by others, while 90% depend on how we deal with them, explaining that dealing calmly and wisely reduces the impact of these events, while exaggerating them leads to negative results.
She stressed the importance of flexibility, noting that a human being is a being capable of development and change at all stages of his life, and stressed that acknowledging shortcomings and not being satisfied with the information acquired is an essential step for self-development because perfection belongs to God alone.
The seminar concluded with practical advice, including practicing writing as a means of understanding feelings and redirecting energy towards goals, noting that everyone faces difficulties, but the real strength lies in the ability to rise again and transform obstacles into opportunities for success.
The seminar was inspiring for the attendees and carried valuable messages for everyone seeking to develop themselves and deal with life’s challenges successfully.
In conclusion, the Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Sherifa Al-Kandari, and the Administrative Director, Saleh Al-Muslim, honored Ms. Aisha Al-Ayyaf.
